Who is John C. Isbell?

John has earned a reputation for challenging the status quo and fighting for citizens’ rights in Sumner County. As County Mayor, John will bring his transparent, citizen-involved style of governance that is grounded in our inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness to represent the interests of Sumner County. John’s Sumner County Republican Roots

John has been an active member of the Sumner County Republican Party for over twenty years. It was in 1999 that he signed up to change the face of politics in our great county. In the back dining room of Shoney’s restaurant, a small but dedicated group of conservatives embarked on a bold initiative to hold a primary for the Constitutional Officers, District Attorney, Judges, and County Commission members. The party believed that it is important that citizens know the party affiliation of candidates seeking their important vote. John Isbell, candidate for Assessor of Property, and Art McClellan, candidate for Judge, were the first to challenge the good ole’ boy politics of Sumner County. Since this first election in 2000, Sumner County is decisively RED with every Constitutional Officer, the District Attorney, every judicial seat, and the majority of County Commissioners being elected as Republicans. Moreover, our Congressional, State Senator, and all three State Representatives are elected as Republicans. The party is proud of its hard work building a party of conservative leaders, and John is honored to be part of this groundbreaking initiative that changed the face of politics in Sumner County.

Volunteer Opportunities

  • Phone Banking – The campaign will provide a phone list and brief script to use to call fellow Sumner Countians. This will be available through our campaign app.
  • Neighborhood Walking – Through our easy-to-use phone app, the campaign will provide a walk list of your neighborhood and literature to share with your neighbors.
  • Install Yard Sign – Help install signs throughout Sumner County.
  • Yard Sign – Allow a campaign sign in your yard.
  • Write Dear Friend Cards – The campaign will provide postcards, a brief script, and addresses to write a note to neighbors encouraging them to vote for John in the primary election.
  • Work Early Vote – We need volunteers to hold signs at the various early vote locations throughout Sumner County. This will be a commitment of 2–8 hours based on your availability.
  • Election Day – Just as with early voting, we will need 100 volunteers to canvas the precincts, hold signs, and make phone calls.
